It’s well known that Disney are pretty protective over their legions of well known characters – and they’re not afraid to bring their powerful legal wrath down on anyone who dares to mock, imitate or bring the House of Mouse into general disrepute.

But the bizarre extent of that has now been revealed in the strangest of ways – after it was revealed that Disney owns the domain MuppetF**ker.net.

It’s a strangely hilarious display of their power, and one that was discovered by… Read the full story

Just when we thought Lord Of The Rings was done and dusted on the big screen – a biopic about its original author J.R.R. Tolkien is on the way.

While we’re hoping it’ll be a tad shorter than the 557 minutes of Peter Jackson’s original film trilogy, we’re quite excited to see the backstory of the guy who gave us orcs, goblins, Gandalf and a complete elven language.

Directed by James Strong, Middle Earth follows the English author’s early life and romance… Read the full story

It’s fair to say JK Rowling has probably struck gold twice. Off the back of Harry Potter now her five Fantastic Beasts films promise to enchant a brand new generation of Hogwarts fans.

But, without taking away any kudos, the 51-year-old has admitted bringing Newt Scamandar’s tale of 1920s wizardry to the big screen has all been ‘a bit of an accident’.

Harry Potter has seen a big revival this year (Picture: Warner Bros)
Harry Potter has seen a big revival this year (Picture: Warner Bros)

There was a moment back in Christmas 2001 when Harry Potter completely swallowed my childhood.

Waking up on Christmas morning during a season dominated by Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone film release, I ripped open wrapped-up blocks to find the first four books in the Harry Potter series. From there, I wedged myself on the stairs in viewpoint of the dining room table, satisfying my parents’ requirement I remain in some form ‘present’ while I buried into a world of witches and wizards which blew my imagination skywards.

It’s unsurprising Beauty And The Beast is a tale as old as time that’s smashing all-time records.

During the first 24 hours of the glorious live-action trailer hitting the web on Monday, Variety reports a 127.6 million views were clocked up across the globe. That’s a lot of Disney love going on.

And while that’s not taking into account any viewing statistics from China, its views are miles ahead of prior record holders Fifty Shades Darker (114 mil) and Star… Read the full story

FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM
It gets the thumbs up! (Picture: Warner Bros.)

Our rating: Four stars.

In a year that has seen the world transform in ways that only Lord Voldemort himself could have imagined, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is the triumphant return to J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world that we so desperately needed.

From our first glimpse of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he arrives in 1920’s New York, it’s like putting on one of Mrs Weasley’s cosy jumpers again – with Redmayne displaying bundles of charm as the magizoologist who owns a briefcase filled with the titular beasts.

Moana’s getting a bit of a name change in Italy (Picture: Disney)

Disney’s latest heroine Moana might be on her way to cinemas across the world – but in Italy she’s set to undergo a bit of a title change.

Yup, Italian viewers heading off to see the Polynesian princess in action will be buying tickets for a movie called Oceania – based on the region where it’s set – rather than Moana.

And why’s that? Well local media has suggested it’s to avoid cinemagoers confusing Disney’s Moana with one Moana Pozzi – who was a legendary Italian porn star.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is finally out this week after years of anticipation.

Based on a schoolbook that Harry Potter and co studied during their time at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the new movie will take fans back in time – to 1926 – to discover the history behind Newt Scamander’s textbook, which, in the modern world, allows budding witches and wizards to learn the beasts they may encounter.

But is it any good?

Our official review hailed it as a ‘triumphant return to JK Rowling’s world’ – but not everyone on… Read the full story

The trailer for the live action Beauty and the Beast feature film smashed records this week when it was viewed an astonishing 127 million times in its first 24 hours.

But how many of us felt there was something oddly familiar about the trailer.

WATCH: Disney’s Beauty And The Beast remake starring Emma Watson gets an incredible full trailer

Yes of course we’re all familiar of the tale – man is turned into Beast, Beast kidnaps a beautiful young woman called Belle, Belle (perhaps in a case of Stockholm syndrome) starts to fall for the monster that kept her locked in a tower, Belle and the Beast kiss, spell is broken and Beast reverts to handsome prince and everyone lives happily ever after.

But the trailer may have seemed incredibly familiar to some.

If you’re a character in a film, going to the toilet can often be a risky business.

Because far from being a quick two-minute trip to answer the call of nature, your time in the toilet can be blighted by anything from explosive diarrhoea through to,er, being eaten by a T-Rex.

No wonder there are so many movies when characters don’t seem to need the loo at all, when getting caught short can be so fraught with danger.
