It’s official, a musical version of the classic 90s film Groundhog Day is on the way.
Telling the story of a grumpy TV weatherman, Phil Connors – played by actor Bill Murray in the original film – he is sent to the small town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where he finds himself stuck in a time loop and forced to re-live the same day over and over again.
Due to open in London at the Old Vic next year, the production will be directed by Matthew Warchus.
Also helping to bring the stage version to life are composer and lyricist Tim Minchin, choreographer Peter Darling, and designer Rob Howell, who will work with the film’s co-writer Danny Rubin.
