This year’s BAFTA nominations include a Best Supporting Actor nod for Idris Elba’s performance in the Netflix original movie Beasts of No Nation.
The film was given a limited cinema release, no doubt to make it eligible for awards such as the BAFTAs (which require a theatrical release).
But it is the first film made predominantly for online distribution to have received a major film award nomination.
