In what is arguably the least surprising news of the year (even less surprising than Adele’s billion broken records), Star Wars: The Force Awakens has had the biggest opening day in UK box office history.
Directed by JJ Abrams, The Force Awakens took an impressive £9.6 million in the UK and Ireland, making it also the biggest single day at the British box office ever.
£9.6 MILLION!
Midnight screenings helped the film along, taking £2.4 million alone after fans began booking tickets for their chosen screenings two months ago in October.
