If you were born in the 90s, chances are you have at one point watched the BFG – maybe more likely than you are to have read it.
And more than likely, in all your childhood wisdom you probably perceived it as nothing but a lovely story about a little girl who met a big friendly giant and helped save the world from nightmares and the big, bad, bone-crunching giants.
Some parts may have scared the hell out of you – but probably for reasons quite different to the parts you’ll find dark when you rewatch it with the benefit of age.
I rewatched BFG and had my eyes opened to the horror that really lays beneath the BFG’s plotline.
