Mark Hamill nearly fell to his death after slipping on the treacherous mountainside of Skellig Michael.
The actor, who plays Luke Skywalker in the film franchise, was saved by a quick-thinking guide but could have been a ‘goner’ otherwise, according to The Sunday Times.
Hamill had been filming the latest instalment of the sci-fi franchise, The Force Awakens, at the UNESCO World Heritage Site near County Kerry last year when the accident happened.
The 63-year-old was rescued by a member of the the Irish Office of Public Works who was accompanying the cast and crew as they shot JJ Abrams’ new blockbuster.
