Renee Zellweger really liked life in the six years before Bridget Jones’ Baby.

The actress has returned to the big screen in the third installment of the Bridget Jones saga, but for the last six years has lived like the average Joe.

The 47-year-old told Jonathan Ross how during her break she had the luxury of doing mundane every day things, like popping out for a coffee, and no one would… Read the full story

Actor Christoph Waltz has spoken about his interpretation of classic Bond villain Blofeld in last year’s Spectre, and he wasn’t quite happy with how it turned out.

Spectre was met with mixed reviews when it released in November last year, and while Daniel Craig said he’d ‘rather slash his wrists’ than do another Bond movie following the film, Christoph Waltz has now aired his problems with how he tackled the villainous character of Blofeld.

Speaking in an interview with German magazine Zeit-Magazin (via DenOfGeek), Christoph said: ‘I cannot claim that I’ve really nailed Blofeld.

In one of her new ebooks, released on September 6, JK Rowling has explained the truth behind Remus Lupin’s condition.

The author detailed that Remus’ being part werewolf was a metaphor for ‘illnesses that carry a stigma’, such as AIDS and HIV.

She swrote: ‘Lupin’s condition of lycanthropy was a metaphor for those illnesses that carry a stigma, like HIV and AIDS.

‘All kinds of superstitions seem to surround blood-borne conditions, probably due to taboos surrounding blood itself. The… Read the full story

(video contains strong language)

The first trailer has been released for Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, and it looks set to be the usual brilliant blend of dark humour and excessive violence that the cult director has become known for.

The crime thriller boasts an impressive cast that includes the likes of Brie Larson and Cillian Murphy, and tells the story of an arms deal gone wrong when two warring gangs meet up at a Boston warehouse in the 1970s.

But while the relatively simple premise could be a disastrous orgy of violence in the wrong hands, the trailer looks like the Sightseers director has managed to weave a sense of pathos into the bullet-fuelled and bloody proceedings.

Spare a thought for the little guys.

Not every cinema release is a tent-pole behemoth, designed to suck in as much cash as possible regardless of its quality.

Unfortunately, the way we talk about films today revolves almost exclusively around box office returns – thanks a bunch, internet.

But just because a film didn’t make a billion dollars and was a huge success – or made a few hundred million short of a billion and was somehow deemed a mammoth failure – doesn’t… Read the full story

Anne Hathaway would not say no to a big screen return as DC’s Catwoman (Picture: DC)

Anne Hathaway has expressed more than a little eagerness to get back into her Catwoman suit.

The 33-year-old actress played Batman’s seductive criminal of an ally in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012, a role which won her highly positive reviews.

And now, although Batman’s story has taken a very different turn this year with the (critically panned) Batman Vs Superman and Suicide Squad, Hathaway isn’t quite ready to let go of the PVC.

The Film Theorists are back and this time, it’s Star Trek who is the centre of a new conspiracy.

According to them, The Star Trek Federation is fascist.

They allege the films and televisions series are littered by fascist allegories – The first being that every story is told from Federation’s point of view which according to them is symbolic of a controlling government.

Second – the Federation’s mission statement to explore strange new worlds, new life, and civilisations is not as benevolent as it seems.
