A group of Native American actors working on Adam Sandler’s new film for Netflix have walked off set claiming it’s ‘disrespectful’ to their heritage.
The actors quit The Ridiculous Six, a spoof of The Magnificent Seven, on Wednesday due to concerns that the film stereotyped Apache culture and insulted Native American women.
The film reportedly includes characters called ‘Beaver’s Breath’ and ‘No Bra’ while one scene, which has raised eyebrows, features an Apache woman squatting down to urinate while smoking a peace pipe.
Allison Young, a Navajo and one of the actors who left, told Indian Country Today Media Network: ‘We talked to the producers about our concerns.
