BBC World Service chiefs have been left red-faced after a guest who was invited on the show to discuss Star Wars turned out to be a Twitter hoaxer with some – how shall we put this – extreme views on the film.
Godfrey Elwick – a student from York who describes himself on his Twitter bio as a ‘demisexual genderqueer Muslim atheist’ and whose account pokes fun at political correctness – was invited to appear on the show World Have Your Say last week after claiming never to have seen Star Wars.
Unfortunately producers didn’t quite realise that his comments on the film were a tad – how shall we put this – tongue in cheek:
