Legendary Polish director Andrzej Wajda has died at the age of 90.
The director, who was considered to be a titan of world cinema, was known for his towering work that chronicled the state of Poland throughout some of the most challenging periods in its history.
His trilogy of wartime movies (A Generation, Kanal and Ashes and Diamonds) were hailed for their portrayal of brave resistance fighters who bravely battled against Nazi occupation – taking in historical events such as the Warsaw Uprising of 1944.
