It looks like Julie Andrews has given her seal of approval to Emily Blunt playing Mary Poppins – at least, according to Blunt herself.
While Dick Van Dyke has expressed doubts about the ‘difficult’ project, Blunt claims 80-year-old Andrews was positively jubilant to hear who will play her iconic role in Mary Poppins Returns.
Emily told EW: ‘Rob [Marshall, the sequel’s director] said he was in the Hamptons, and he saw [Andrews], and he said, “It’s top secret, but Emily Blunt’s playing Mary Poppins”. And she went, “Oh, wonderful!”.’
