This is the man who inspired Roald Dahl’s The BFG

Ever wondered who inspired Roald Dahl’s Big Friendly Giant? Turns out it isn’t your granddad, it’s a 6ft 5in builder who was best pals with the infamous author.

The real-life BFG is Walter Saunders, also known as Wal, who often played snooker with Dahl and even built the author a writing hut at the tail-end of his garden, according to The Sun.

So how much like the giant is he? Well he could even wiggle his wonderful ears. It’s uncanny.
