Jonathan Rhys Meyers has apologised for being pictured in a severely drunken state in London earlier this month.
The Irish actor – who is believed to have been in and out of rehab for alcohol addiction six times since 2002 – used his fiancée Mara Lane’s Instagram account to post this apology.
The image was a selfie of Mara, shedding a tear for her partner, but the caption was from Meyer’s point of view, which read:
Mara and I are thankful for your support and kindness during this time. I apologize for having a minor relapse and hope that people don’t think too badly of me. I stopped drinking immediately and it is no reflection on Damascus Cover as I was not meant to attend Cannes this year and I apologize to fans and colleagues.
