It’s news that won’t surprise many film fans, but now the team over at Polygraph have confirmed that male characters talk more in films – even when women are the lead characters.
Polygraph ‘explore popular culture with data and visual storytelling’ and have calculated that even in Disney films – including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas and Mulan – which are female-driven, the voices of men dominated the script.
The data broke down over 2000 scripts and removed any minor chracters with less than 25 lines.
