Her father Mitch Winehouse and her former fiance Reg Traviss have spoken out against it.
But critics have given the controversial Amy Winehouse documentary their seal of approval after it was screened to press at Cannes Film Festival today.
The biopic, directed by Asif Kapadia, has won rave reviews with The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw giving it five stars and calling it a ‘tragic masterpiece’ while Indiewire’s Kaleem Aftab describes it as ‘heartbreaking and extraordinary.’
The film uses archive footage of Winehouse including intimate home movies along with contemporary audio interviews from her friends to document Amy’s rise to fame and subsequent downfall.
