Heard the one about the Oscar-winning film icon doing a stand-up set at a New York comedy club?
That’s the reality that an audience at New York’s Comedy Cellar will experience tonight – as Robert De Niro films scenes for upcoming movie The Comedian – in which he plays a veteran insult comic.
Instead of filming the scenes in the static confines of a movie studio, DeNiro has instead opted to go full method in front of a braying comedy crowd – in order to hopefully achieve some genuine laughs.
