Director Alejandro González Iñárritu has said he made ‘irresponsible’ decisions while making Oscar-nominated film The Revenant.

Iñárritu’s beautifully shot revenge story starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, tells the story of trapper Hugh Glass who wants to get back at the men who left him for dead after he was mauled by a bear.

The cast have previously spoken about how grueling the film was to shoot, with star DiCaprio being made to sleep in animal carcasses and eat raw liver to create an authentic moment on camera.

His co-star Will Poulter as also admitted it was tough going, telling Metro.co.uk that everyone involved was ‘pushed to their limits’.
