If you haven’t watched Save The Last Dance then you’ve been missing out on a total gem.
Teen films are a total guilty pleasure, and are so enjoyable because they follow the same predictable storyline – wealthy kids, convertible cars, perfect kisses and a glam makeover chucked in for good measure.
But Save The Last Dance is so much more than that, and instead it tackles real life situations like dating struggles, teen pregnancy and crime.
Plus not a convertible in sight.
1. It explored racism
Normal romantic relationships in teen movies involve perfect couples with fairytale relationships.
But Save The Last Dance actually looked at the trials and tribulations of normal couples, such as racism faced in inter-racial relationships.
Anyone who maintains that they didn’t shed a few tears when Sara left Derek because of pressure from others is a liar.
