Annotated map of J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-earth has been discovered inside old copy of Lord Of The Rings

In what is surely a turn up for the books, a map of J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-earth has been discovered inside a copy of Lord Of The Rings..

And it reveals that the Lord Of The Rings author placed Hobbiton on the same latitude of Oxford. As Tolkien was a professor of Anglo-Saxon at Oxford University, the new placement of Hobbiton will come as no surprise to many fans.

The long-hidden map was found in a copy of Pauline Baynes’ copy of the 1955 book. It was later acquired by Blackwell’s Rare Books via the executor of Pauline’s estate.
