Jesse Eisenberg confirms he’ll return as Lex Luthor in Justice League movie

Jesse Eisenberg has confirmed he will reprise his role as Lex Luthor in the forthcoming Justice League movie.

The actor announced he will return to play the Batman V Superman villain on stage at MCM’s London Comic Con, according to Digital Spy.

With production underway on DC’s superhero mash-up, which is set to star Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa, Jesse noted he was just waiting for the call.

Melissa McCarthy has reacted to the backlash to the upcoming all-female reboot of Ghostbusters, and she’s not holding back.

Many fans have expressed their disdain towards Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters revival, with the trailer even becoming the most disliked on YouTube, but star Melissa McCarthy has reacted to the online outrage.

In an interview with The Guardian, she said: ‘All those comments – “You’re ruining my childhood!” I mean, really.

Director John Carney has criticised his former leading lady Keira Knightley.

The Irish filmmaker worked with her in 2013’s Begin Again and claimed he was ‘disenchanted’ with his experience of ‘certain movie stars’ in it.

In an interview with The Independent, Carney went on to praise the other main leads in the film, Mark Ruffalo and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine.

Harry Styles’ first big acting role may be in a Hollywood blockbuster, but the film’s casting director has insisted the singer’s One Direction fame had nothing to do with him landing the part.

John Papsidera, who cast Harry in Christopher Nolan’s World War II movie Dunkirk, insists that although the star has no significant acting experience, he outshone many trained actors who auditioned for the same part.

‘Harry was absolutely right for the role,’ he told the Daily Mirror.

He starred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth, but that hasn’t stopped Jeremy Irons from being the latest person to give the superhero film a kicking.

Oh dear.

The much-anticipated superhero mash-up hit cinemas in March, and grossed over $870 million worldwide, despite a resounding critical mauling – and receiving a paltry approval rating of just 27 percent.

But Irons has now refused to show solidarity with the beleaguered movie, and claimed that its muted reception was justified.

Veteran Studio Ghibli animator Makiko Futaki, who worked on the Oscar-winning Spirited Away, has died aged 57.

The prestigious animator who worked on nearly every major Studio Ghibli animation, including their final feature When Marnie Was There, died on May 13 in a Tokyo hospital from an unspecified illness.

Futaki worked for the studio for three decades, and collaborated with notorious Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki on all of his feature films, including My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke, which are often touted as the studio’s greatest works.

A week after Johnny Depp and Amber Heard announced they were divorcing amid acrimonious accusations, Johnny’s new film Alice Through the Looking Glass has flopped at the box office.

The sequel to Alice In Wonderland made a disappointing $65 million at the international box office – and it only grossed $28.1 million over its opening weekend in US, far below the estimated $70 million it was projected to make.

Deadline reports that he film found its biggest audience in China with $27.1 million, followed by Mexico at $5 million, Russia with $4.6 million, Brazil at $4.1 million, and the UK at $3.2 million.

The Game Of Thrones actress, 29, has thrown her name in the ring to play the first female Bond.

Clarke, who is currently promoting her new film Me Before You, is eager to step into Daniel Craig’s shoes – and she already has a Bond Boy in her sights.

She told The Daily Star: ‘I have a lot of unrealised dreams. I would love to play Jane Bond. My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio. No doubt about it.’

Duncan Jones has revealed what his late father David Bowie thought of his new film Warcraft.

Bowie, who died from cancer at the age of 69 earlier this year, was given a sneak peek of the upcoming blockbuster before he passed away.

Jones told The Daily Beast: ‘I showed him an early cut of [Warcraft] and showed him some of the effects shots.

‘You know, for everyone else he was one person. For me, he was my dad. And he was always interested in things I was working on.

Disney executives are reportedly so unhappy with the first cut of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, they’ve ordered for parts of the film to be re-shot.

It’s the first planned Star Wars spin-off movie, set between Episode III and Episode IV, only it hasn’t got off to the best of starts.

Reports claim it ‘isn’t testing well’ and Disney execs ‘are not happy’ with the first cut so it now faces four weeks of re-shoots to get it up to release standard, according to New York Post’s Page Six.

We can only imagine the excitement/havoc that is caused when a Hollywood film is shot in a sleepy, unassuming town.

But when that film happens to be Star Wars: Episode 8, it’s a whole new level of hysteria that belongs in a galaxy, far far away.

Filming has just wrapped in the coastal Irish town of Crookhaven, West Cork – and now the Star Wars team have taken the liberty of printing a newspaper advert in the Irish Examiner to thank the townspeople for the ‘warm welcome’ that they received.

With the Star Wars logo painted in a patriotic green, the whole thing is a classy tribute from the crew.
