It was supposed to be the new Titanic, an action-packed yet highly romantic blockbuster based on a tragic real-life event from the first half of the 20th Century.
But Pearl Harbor – which premiered in Hawaii 15 years ago today – failed to capture the public’s imagination in the same way and bombed hard with critics, going on to receive nine nominations at the Razzies.
Still, Michael Bay’s wartime epic did gross a not-too-shabby $450 million worldwide, pick up numerous awards, and briefly turn Josh Hartnett into one of Hollywood’s most chiselled leading men. In honour of its anniversary, here are 15 things you may not know about the 2001 epic.
